We’ve just been informed that we are lucky to offer helicopter rides at Sarau Festival 2012! Helipro will be offering scenic flights from an adjacent paddock. A first for Sarau. Helipro Nelson will be waiting to take you on a fantastic flight over our beuatiful Moutere region. Cost from $65.00 and $95.00 per person.

Weather permitting, the team of U Fly Extreme, Motueka, will be performing aerobatic stunts over the Sarau festival in their specially prepared aircraft: the Pitts Special.  Come along and watch one of the best aerobatic displays in the country perform loops, rolls, reverse rolls and cuban eights. Definitely a sight not to be missed!

Purple Cake Day March 1st 2012

Purple and Sarau just seems to work so well together! You have probably already heard of Purple Cake Day? The aim of this day is to connect children around the world. It’s a day of celebration, education and action. Purple Cake Day encourages our children to learn about their role in the global community and empowers them to take action for children in need worldwide.

So in support of Purple Cake Day, held annually on March 1st 2012, Sarau Festival will incorporate the following:

Purple Hat Competition

School students of all ages are invited to attend the Sarau Festival on Sunday 29 January 2012 in their best decorated Purple Hat.

Judging will take place at 4.30pm so make sure you are there and ready before that time.  No entry fee, but gold coin donation to the Kenbe La Foundation welcome.

Purple Cake Stall

We are asking students (and parents) to bring along purple cakes or purple iced cakes for sale.  The funds raised from these will go to the Kenbe La Foundation Charitable Trust.  For ideas and more information go to www.purplecakeday.org

To find out more about the Kenbe La (Never Give Up) Foundation and its work to raise funds to rebuild schools and facilities for children in earthquake torn Haiti, please visit their website.

Sarau Festival 2011 - Sunday, January 30th, 2011 from 4pm! Be there!

The route is a loop, with a 7 or 11km option, & finishes at the festival site. Cyclists will travel along quiet sealed roads, farm tracks & mown paddocks, passing through vineyards, raspberry & blackcurrant fields, hop gardens & open fields. There are some rolling hills on the road section at the beginning & the remainder is flat.

Children are welcome as long as they are reasonably experienced riders. This is not recommended for children under the age of 8, and of course all children participating must be accompanied by an adult.
